The Eastern Catawba Cooperative Christian Ministry, Inc.
“As the scope and ministry of ECCCM grew, it became necessary for us to enter into a “Building for the Future” capital campaign to raise funds to construct a new crisis facility in Catawba County. In 2003 the ECCCM Board selected Mr. Al Wheeler & Associates to be our capital campaign consultant. While Al has provided counsel for successful multi-million dollar campaigns all over the east coast, our goal was just under $1 million. Only one person on our eighteen-member Board of Directors had any experience with capital campaigns so it was vitally important to have someone we felt comfortable with, a person who had expertise and who had a track record of many successful campaigns.
It was important for ECCCM to find someone that could provide guidance, vision and counsel in a challenging economic setting to be successful in our campaign. Al provided this and much more. He provided us with a plan that guided us step by step along the way from the very beginning, to the end, and was very successful. We surpassed our initial goal by over 25%. He was always available to answer questions and meet with our committees. He went above and beyond the call of duty to assist us. I can whole heartedly recommend Mr. Al Wheeler & Associates.”

Lenoir-Rhyne College
“Al Wheeler helped plan, organize and lead the “CentenniaL-Renewal Campaign,” assisted in recruiting and training our volunteer leadership, and was the single most significant factor in our exceeding the objectives for operating funds, physical plant additions, and endowment. Nearly $28M was raised toward the $24M goal with an overhead cost factor of less than 3%.
The campaign included the most successful campaigns in the (then) history of the local community, the alumni, parents, and the Lutheran Synod of North Carolina. Over half of the contributed dollars were designated for endowment. Al Wheeler’s leadership transitioned from consultant to Vice President for Advancement during the campaign. The quality and dedication of his work ensured our success.”

Watauga Education Foundation
"The insight provided by Mr. Wheeler to have our team understand our mission and achieve our goals was invaluable. We learned more than how to just raise money. We were empowered to have the potential donors realize the impact on our children, teachers, and the community they would help support with this project. With our skills set in hand, the pursuit of our goals became second nature.
What I learned from Al carried over to another project I headed, raising a million dollars to endow a Chair at UNC-CH School of Dentistry. The Dental Foundation administration were impressed with my knowledge of fund raising efforts and our project proceeded smoothly. I can thank Mr. Wheeler for some life lessons and development of another friendship during our fund raising time together."

Poe Center for Health Education
“During an economic downturn, Al helped the board of directors and campaign cabinet of the Poe Center for Health Education raise $3 M in two years. He coached us, encouraged us, but most of all, taught us the most effective process of raising money and the importance of not skipping vital steps.
He built community leaders along with the Center and its programs. As individuals and as an organization, we grew in competency, credibility and confidence, all qualities that have served the Center well over the years. The Poe Center has educated more than 600,000 students since 1992.”
